Classical art lessons taught with creativity

With a professional background in graphic design along with lifelong studies and a passion for drawing and painting, Joan brings 28 years of experience and creativity to her teaching. Since 1998 she has inspired both children and adults in Charleston with her classical approach — providing a solid foundation to explore all art forms. After a recent move to Brevard, NC, Joan is looking forward to meeting new students and connecting with the community through her love of art.

Her lessons emphasize building confidence and finding real satisfaction in the creative process. Beyond drawing and painting she teaches calligraphy and printmaking. Many of her young students have been accepted into prestigious art schools and colleges. Students of any age are well prepared for their art journey.

Joan's graphic design background ranges from naming a project, branding, producing corporate collateral, publication design and production, book design, advertising materials, sign system design & development, way-finding and environmental graphics. She has been featured in Communication Arts, and also had signage published in Contract, Interior Design, and Architectural Record magazines. And after a few decades she still loves it all.
